In my research works I explore the reign of the Bosporan dynasties. Now my attention is directed to the origin of the Bosporan king Fophors, circumstances of his way to power and his relations with Rome. This period can be studied with the help of numismatic and archaeological sources.
Due to the coins minted by this king, Frolova N. A. managed to establish the dates of the reign of Fophors (285/286 - 309/310 ad). Yatsenko refers this Bosporan king to the representatives of the Alanian group that roamed in the Central Caucasus. In the third century Alan influence on the Bosporus increases, so it seems logical that the throne was occupied by this king. However, the circumstances of his coming to power cause contradictions. We need to discover Fophors`s allies in the struggle for the throne. Progressive theory A Doctor of Historical sciences Sergey Yartsev put forward a progressive theory: he believes that this Bosporan king was a henchman of Diocletian. This is also evidenced by the fact that in this period of time was partly returned by the influence of Rome on the Bosporus, the construction and restoration of fortresses. There are also no military conflicts with Rome. It is necessary to remark. The treatise of Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus "on the administration of the Empire" in Chapter 53 tell us about the war of Bosporus with Roman troops in Asia Minor during the reign of Diocletian. But this source refers to the X century, and other references to military action in this period of time there. Therefore, we can assume that this source describes the sea voyage of 276, which is reflected in earlier sources. This is also evidenced by the fact that there is a weakening of the power of the Bosporan king and the growing influence of Rome. Because Fophors was a protege of Diocletian and had to pursue a Pro-Roman policy.
Studying this subject we can, on example rule individual of tsars and dynasties traced relations between Bosporus and Rome, understand plans Empire relative to this territory.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I hope that over time my contribution to science will become more and more weighty.
